David (Stilldrilling) recommended a 2" diamond wheel for sharpening tools, spot on!! 

Mine arrived this week, but I didn't like the Dremal type arbour, it looked too flimsey, so I made a small face plate for it.

The red trail, is paint from a new carbide knifetool I roughed out, just to try it.....

I had only jammed it onto a 22mm spigot. Will mount it sensibly, and try out properly....... Sometime!

Umm, that might be handy in my homemade wire brush/grind anything!! It's got a chuck on one end to take all sorts of things.

I would have thought that using a diamond disk like that in the lathe would leave diamond dust on the bed , cross slide, bearings and every other place you can think of

diamond dust makes a VERY good lapping compound

The diamond grit stays stuck to the disc...... Certainly, much less messy than the grit from emery cloth.

I usually cover the bed ways, for either operation......
