 :D Yer I know what you mean bought a few engineering books like that one flick through and never used again! 
The Smithells reference book I bought back in my 20s was kinda like that, no one will buy it so I just use it now and again must weigh about 5 or 10pounds  :lol:

An example of info 99% of us will never use or really understand.

I think if you read and study the pages before and after that diagram you may learn how and when to use that information.  :D :D
