Good to hear from you all,
Now, about this BMW. It's an 518i with the E28 body.
Sorry, it does have four wheels and not two. Though I did have, back in a previous life, when I had money, a Guzzi Californian that had more style than a dozen BMW bikes.
The reason for the engine fit is that as it is the 1.8 petrol it is already hobbled by the small motor/big body problem. But I'm not too bothered about that. It is the fuel consumption that is the problem.
So, it turns out that the Citroen Diesel engine aka Peugeot XUD slopes to the same direction as the BMW petrol and would fit comfortably in the engine bay. In summer I make my bio diesel and run a 50/50 mix. this helps a poor pensioner with his fuel bills (I hope the tears are already filling your eyes) and keeps me away from Morrison's petrol station.
Eric,
Not much to see yet, just the frames and some lumps of cast iron. Yes, carving my wheels from the solid. My contribution to Masochism.
Johannes,
Might do that one day, I'm only about 20 miles away. I'll let you know when I next head your way.
Looks as if it could be fun here.
Anyway, I'm off to light the shed stove. Catch you all later.
I don't know if the picture will appear. But if it does, let's call it 'a work in progress'.
Dave.

Dave...
Such a sad tale of fuel issues... :( I still don't see why your going to go down the crazy route and not just buying a Peugeot/Citroen  But then that's what :proj: is all about I suppose? :nrocks:
I, even if no one else does, will of course expect plenty of info on the engine swap and fuel developments (Bio fuel not much use in a cossie though!)
Good luck!
Oh, erm.... Shed stove?
Ralph.
