, I hope it did, I suppose you will be able to put stronger spring in if it does not give enough support. Hopefully it will work as it certainly looks the part and well done on the video work too

A useful contraption, must try and make two for my lathe. Unfortunately my steady has flat fingers, so it will need bit of thought. Like the video, so much better than stills and text.

Thanks for sharing that.

But just a comment, please take it constructively: NEVER leave the chuck key in the chuck as shown at the beginning of the video - the key should be regarded as part of your hand and not the chuck. It's only the flick of a switch away from impaling itself in something or somebody.

enjoyed both of your videos, and nice work on the projects and the videos themselves..... the quality of production of the films was excellent and the subjects showing people what you can do with little cash and re-cycling is perfect keep up the good work..

Nice vids Chris, I like your simple method of setting the taper angle

, I would have checked it with a dab of Eng. blue at the end of your machining, but that's just me.
By the way it's pronounced ... Va-nay-di-um... mind you I have the same problem with nidim... neodiminum ... very strong rare earth magnets

Made a similar one for my mill, used heat gun too & a couple of angle iron bits; as we all find out the supplied one is more of an interference than useful but it has to comply with EU regs ? attached mine to the table via brackets & those neo

... bloody strong magnets

... does the same job.

here's a basic tool grinding jig I made, not my design I just copied a pic lol
there were a few curved parts I struggled with

and a rotary table is on my wish list

Love your projects. My sort of thing. machining and welding scrap to make something useful. Wondered though why you don't thread those big brass bits on your lathe with a bit of boring and internal threading? Or do you just like making big machines
