The Answer To My Question On HMEM
« on: July 24, 2012, 02:40:13 PM »
I am a new user here, have been on HMEM for a couple of years.  After watching and reading about all the commercial stuff going on there, I decided it was time to leave HMEM behind and move in another direction.

Whether right or wrong, I decided to delete all the posts I started from the site.  Big surprise, delete not enabled on all the old imported posts.   So, I wrote a short nicely worded request to "Austin" who is the administrator.  I simply ask, "Will you please delete all the posts that I  originated from the system?  Signed it "Thanks, George_Race"

That was a couple of hours ago.  Just went back to see if I had gotten any reply.  Strange, can't even find my request as listed above.  So I though I would make the request again, thinking I somehow blew it and it was not posted.

Tried to enter a post, no luck!  Tried to respond to one of my own post's, no luck!

Here is what comes up on the screen, no matter what I try to do.

I guess the means that I am no longer on HMEM!
The lesson learned here is, I guess you can't ask questions there without being punished!
I am now a renegade from HMEM!

Hi Rob:
I was hoping that that no one noticed!
The reason is simple, in my posts I linked to HMEM so others could see the beginning of the threads, planning on posting further updates here and not on HMEM.

I then started to realize the situation on HMEM was not going to be good one, so I deleted those two posts.  I will be re-posting both here with links to another site where most of the same information is as well.  It is the Home Shop Mechinist group here in Michigan.  Their site is: bbs.homeshopmachinist.net and it is the home site of Weston Bye, the designer of the great Magnetic Clock that I and several others are building.

So anyway Rob, hope that explains why I posted and then quickly removed both posts.  I just did not want to send any more traffic to HMEM.  I am sure they are counting hits and the more they get the more they can charge for advertisers somewhere down the road.

I need to do an intro here as well, will also get that done,
Thanks,
George

I think you are right Rob.
Just tried to sign in to HMEM, I may not be banned, but to me what I saw is just as good.

Here is a picture of my attempt to sign in:

I have deleted my link to HMEM.......Hopefully will run into old friends here in the future.

George and Eric,

Thanks for the kind words.  Although I visit here regularly,  I am sorry for my scant participation as life, health and family have occupied much of my time.  For now I have had to be content to stay ahead of the publishing schedule for the Magnetic Clock series in Digital Machinist.

I am astonished and gratified at the reception of the project and particularly appreciate George's posts on his progress and modifications in building the clock.

Given the response to the project, I am able to offer printed circuit boards and electronics parts kits and perhaps assembled and tested units to help readers who may be hesitant to take on the electronic portion of the project.  The information will be available in the Fall issue of Digital Machinist, but  I can post details about the boards and kits if the moderators here approve.

Hi Weston, great to see you here and thanks for the very kind words about my project.

I hope the Moderator approves, I would like to see more information here on the electronics for the Magnetic Clock.  That is the last piece that I need to get it "Ticking."

Oh, Mr Stevenson you do make me laugh

First I've heard of all of this! Been out of the loop for a few weeks. Haven't been on HMEM for many, many months. Got far too big for me to focus on a few years ago.

I'm only hoping the evacuees are tamed and play nice :whip:          :)
