Router
« on: February 18, 2014, 05:19:21 PM »
I'm thinking one of these could come in handy for cutting the brown stuff when mounted on my VMC mill. I've noticed other folks have done this with their mills but this router looks particularly suitable. What do you think?

Interesting unique idea theses new Makita trimmers.
I think the shank size might give you an idea how robust with 6, 1/4", 8 and 3/8" collets which I think is same as a higher powered Bosch Pro.
Can see in video it changes note due to load with the ogee theyre only meant for light work.

No doubt it would do the job but what are you to gain from adapting such a tool. Unless through feeding manually.
626 limited movement 14" x 6", loss of height and setup to attain higher spindle speed with substantially less loading put through.
Looked at these sorts of things a few years ago for current mill with top whack spindle speed of 1250rpm. Cant help not think these are great as a standalone unit or hand held. Depends what you have to do and whether plenty of them.

I've cut wood on my mill before but I could do with a higher spindle speed.
