Largest spindle bore on mini lathe
« on: January 17, 2014, 05:49:44 AM »
I currently use an imported taig lathe with large 1.6" bore, however, I'd like a larger lathe. The problem I've got is my workshop is in my attic, so I can't use a large machine.
Can anyone tell me where I could find a mini lathe with a mt4 bore or similar or a way to increase a spindle to that capacity.
Many thanks

Richy.

My BV20 is far too heavy for me to get in the Attic and the bore is only 20mm! We had a Myford ML7 at work and the bore on that was only 7/16".

What are you planning to make?

Taig with 1.6" bore ???????

Do you mean 1.6 mm

MT4 is 1.23" at the large end so your Taig ? is far bigger

It's perhaps the de-luxe Taig, the one with the 3Hp spindle motor ?

John
If that's the case put me down for one, I think that one has Gamet bearing in and runs at 10k rpm
