Evening Lads  :)

Tool and cutter grinders seem to be like buses ,,,,,,,,,,,, wait forever for one then two come along

I did a trade with Mick , swapped the DRO that came with mill , the scales were way too long and I have lived this long with out a DRO  :med:

So here it is

The machine needs work , table is shagged , no big deal as I have Cast iron plate at hand to fix it.

And I will also have to fix the Clarkson vice I found in a skip  a few years ago .

I will also need to make tooling for it  :dremel:

It beggars belief how anyone can wreck a Teeslot like that and so often unless it was deliberate?

I have the Mk2 on the square cast cabinet, the upper works are essentially the same - an excellent workhorse that is very adaptable.

I'm thinking about re-doing mine in a nice shade of rust to make maintenance easier...

I have no doubt that when my time comes, my kids will do something similar with my workshop- which includes a Clarkson 1.
I was reminded that it was all of £20 or £25 that an octogenarian had forgotten to pay for the club sub and no one could be bothered to walk around the corner or make a phone call. It reminded me of a scrapman- sorry- machine tool dealer who got so irate because he struck gold( so he thought) and I was too committed elsewhere to give him a real valuation.

One of my mates- a very good one over more years than I recall, will not let anyone in his workshop.- to see what else there is- to possibly acquire

Have a nice day.

Rob,

I thought you might be interested in the following link, it is not my site!
http://www.bedroom-workshop.com/index.htm

I have a MKI Clarkson, which is undergoing modifications, the spindle has been radically altered(not by me), shaft sleeved to take oversized bearings, shortened and no inner sleeve between the two bearings. I am at present modifying it to give it two speeds like the MKII as for small diameters, 4000 RPM is a bit slow. Later, I'll have to make a new spindle as I'm a bit limited for stones by the short spindle.

Regards, Matthew

I'm seeing a similarity between machines/projects to Rob and the attraction of shoes to women...
