Rob

Wow. That is some nice grinder. That should get the rough edges off a few bits (pun intended). Looking forward to seeing more when you have had a chance to get it sorted.  :D :D

Cheers

Hi there, Rob and Bob,

That looks like a useful bit of kit.            You guys must have bigger workshops than my 12' x 8' though!   :bang:  :bang:  :bang:

A historical comment, if I may:  The rating plate in your first photo, Rob, says that Alexander is 'a Coubro + Scrutton Company'.  Before I retired I worked in radio and electronics and I also hold an Amateur Radio licence.  In both professional and hobby capacities, I came into contact with a firm called 'C & S Antennas' who, as their name suggests, designed, made and erected radio aerials.  These were of all shapes and sizes but included the tall guyed lattice towers used by broadcasting companies.

The connection that I found interesting was that Coubro & Scrutton, their parent company, were originally in the business of masts & rigging for tall sailing ships.  You can see how some of those skills would transfer from the old to the new.
Best regards,

Pete W.

If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, you haven't seen the latest design change-note!

Hi
Lads
As you will have read I had a run down to Bobs last night
As we were looking at Robs latest treasure , Bob chirped up with the phrase "yours is different and single phase"
After a few brews and a bit crack we left
Bob rang me today informing me that my grinder was waiting for me .
After work it was back down the A1
This is what he had for me
Thanks Bob

Two nice bits of kit and top marks to Bob for the spirit of the gifts too ................. I would say you are more or less certain to go to heaven for that deed alone Bob     .................. I bet if Rob and John got snapped by a speed camera on the way home, they would have looked like two Cheshire cats in the front of the van

P.S ..................... Have you planted a tool cutter grinder tree Bob

  Cheers Mick.

Hi Guys,

What a great couple of new toys, two forth coming restorations, and a new tool and cutter grinding video.

John and Rob, congratulations     Cheers David

Hi
Lads
Cleaned the grinder up a bit
The motor is not very quiet I stripped it and cleaned the bearings re packed with grease
A lot better (the bearings are specials)
I turned up a couple of bosses and mounted a green wheel
A bit play with a 60 deg threading tool  very happy with the results
