Not bad Bob , the mags were good find , that should keep you off the streets reading all of them !
Trev , I think the hammer might have started off as test piece for blacksmith apprentice or something and maybe not meant to be so long ? it looks like it was never finished so may have strayed from the drawing too much ?

 Cheers Mick.

That's just the sort of stop watch you like to mend! You guys have all the luck, worthwhile stuff in car boot sales. Every time I visit my son in the South of England, i insist on going to a Car Boot sale, sometimes I get luck and find a good hammer or two, but never anything like you find up in the North!

regards, Matthew

Well we don't have car boot sales here, but there is Craig's list and I have been finding some good deals lately.

This week I picked up a Craftsman 12" drill press for $100.  (Sears sold these for around $300 when he purchased it.) It was new in the box and never put together.  The guy got it as a gift and didn't want it.  The seller said it was missing one of the handles for the quill but didn't realize that one of the three handles was suppose to be different and was right there in the box.  I noticed he was wrong about the handle, but didn't point it out to him as that was why he listed it so cheap.

The drill press is loaded with features and has a Led work light, Laser tracking, a huge table, and the best part is a digital depth gauge!
I also LOVE the different handle for moving the quill up and down.  Craftsman stopped making this model a few years ago and the new model has way less features which is a bummer as I would like to pickup a second or third drill and set up gang tooling on them.

Here is a picture of the new toy next to my 9" drill press.

Hi All , Due to mainly weather  I have not been to many boot sales but got to an indoor market last week and got some new taper shank drills, a long series normal shank drill and a reamer , I got the lot for £10.
I can't remember the actual sizes off the top of my head but the long MT2 drill is 18 inches long, largest was 14.5mm I think , all good makes and unused so happy with them.

Cheers Mick

Gentlemen,

We don't have car boot sales here (USA), but call them yard sales, etc.  I was wondering why they are called car boot sales?  Because you drive to them and store what you buy in the trunk of your car?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I was wondering

Things have become more organised in recent times.

Originally. The sellers assembled their cars/ vans, in a field or car park area, and their wares are displayed on the ground, or a table, around the rear of the car.

Or indeed were in the boot of the car, hence the name

(For our American cousins boot = trunk)

Nice find on the box of drills Skyrocket, I went to the bootsale for the first time in a while with John Doubleboost , John came back emptyhanded but I got a couple of things.
A Martindale Voltage tester, looks good quality and condition, it indicates what voltage range , if DC or AC and polarity for £2 and an angle drive gadget for a drill , seems like a good bit of kit , it swivels to all angles and is well made so for £3 it would have been rude not to have bought it

This is the angle gadget in a few positions.

Hi Mick
Two nice bits of kit you have there, a nice rugged tester with plenty of insulation, and that mysterious angle drive, which I have never seen before, could be very useful. Makes my poor old 90 degree drive look very basic.

                                                                        Good Finds   Cheers David
