Just thinking...
« on: January 27, 2013, 01:25:52 PM »
Does anyone make a collet block for R8 collets? I could use one for making square and hex, for simple indexing on my mill, as I already have R8 collets. I haven't found anything via Google.
Is there any reason why R8 collet blocks woud not be practical?

Yes I recall seeing one somewhere.

Does that nice Mr Stevenson do one?

Chuck, here is an adapter I made to use R8 collets in my lathe. It may give you an idea for your project. It started as an aid for turning short pieces with my ball turner but I have found it useful for other jobs too. The only drawback is that I have to take the adapter out of the lathe in order to change work pieces. I suppose I could use a socket on a long extension and reach through head stock if I used it a lot.
