My latest challenge is to restore a Clarke CL300 mini lathe that I acquired from a club mate for a modest amount.......It needs some tlc and a few bits to make it work again...
To start with, the motor is shot and needs replacing. I've since purchased a replacement and installed it along with a new drive belt...
The original speed controller, an FC250J type, is in need of repair work too...
I intend to subject this machine to some 'Modderitis'

to hopefully make the lathe better...
Mods are likely to include:
Taper roller bearings for the spindle which have been bought this evening....
A Quick Change Tool Post similar to the one I made for my Sieg Super C3....
Brass gibs for the crosslide
Lube holes for the lead screw bearing blocks...
Hopefully I'll post a few pics on the way to show my progress
At this point I must add my thanks to Andyf and Stilldrillin for their comments on what I should do with this machine...I've decided to keep it and restore it..so thanks guys for your input.
