Stew, Jim, Rob, Benni...... Thanks for your kind words! Talking about words...... Looks like I will have to eat mine! --- Quote from: Stilldrillin on September 14, 2012, 03:44:30 PM --- Haven't used it, yet. Not sure I ever will need it. --- End quote --- Managed 10 mins this afternoon, for a quick play. The mini lathe power feed is much too coarse. But, this gives a fabulous fine controlled feed! :bugeye: Thanks for the initial idea Mike! David D |

Nice job, David. I found after fitting my handwheel that the power "fine" feed was only used occasionally. Mine has a dial on it, which helps on things like wanting to turn down stock for a given distance before (for example) threading it. Wouldn't be hard to fit a zero-able dial to yours, if the outer end of the spacer was reduced in diameter to allow a dial and an O ring for friction to fit between the resulting shoulder and the handwheel boss. Stilldrillin:
Thanks for your thoughts Andy. Will have to see how things develop. I certainly like the dial/ O ring idea. One turn is .059", for roughing purposes. I regularly use my "tyre gauge" digital read out, for more accurate measurements. David D |

Thanks for the reminder about tyre gauges, David. I bu33ered mine up while trying to mod it. Time to get another, and treat it more kindly! Andy |
stirling lad:
Thanks for the 'how to' guide David, its much easier to follow without the hovis accent :poke:  I jest of course,, its the very next on my list... I had a feeling you'd approve once you'd fitted it,, what with all the strange wee jobs you have to do to fix them orphans. BUT, if it starts gathering dust then you could always banish it into exile up here in jocksville....hoots mon!!! ..Mike... |
