Attention Notice of interup in service!

 Home Shop Machinist forum is back up and running and looking good! 
  Just a note to let everybody know that the Home shop Machinist forum along with the Live steam forum. And the other Village Press forums were taken off line this morning for an upgrade. It has NOTHING TO DO WITH the HMEM sale etc. They hope to have them back up in a couple hours or so.

HSM seems to have been down all afternoon for me here - I get database error messages.

Can anyone else get on it?

With the software forum change over, and the tweeking they have been doing to satisfy some of the picky,picky whining going on over there. It doesn't surprise me that their servers went off line. All of their web sites are down. They will be back soon as Monday is a few hours away

One of the main problems they had after changing to the new software was the search function only worked on new posts.

I was under the impression that for the search to work with all posts the new software would have to update from the old database ??

Don't quote me on this but that may be the reason for the downtime and Sunday would be a good day to do it and not interrupt the working running of their sites.

That makes as much sense as some of the whining about this, that and the other thing for the forum right out of the box.

It would be easier to add a google search button or a post explaining how to use google effectively to search the site. Would also ease the load on the server.
