Absolutely fascinating - thanks for the link.

Wonderful machines, especially the rotary version. I'd love to see one in action at first hand.

I've cut the end off it twice, but it's still too short

How anyone can make a comment about the CNC doing it better. Pride comes before the fall. It is nice to  see a real master workmanship. And that is a gift to learn and to be able to do such fine work. Fabulous!!!

:bugeye: Nice machine, made in good old Brum, would love to find out more about G Plant and son of Harborne, a stones throw from the Jewellery quarter

Doesn't seem like there is any trace of them on the net, like most pioneering engineering excellence designed here.

The beauty of Not Planning, is that failure comes as a Complete Suprise and is Not preceded by a period of worry and depression.

I do not understand what 10 has to do with binary???

There are only 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary, and those that don't

One - Zero is '2' in binary  ie One '2' bit plus no 'One' bit ..

So, for 8 bits ...

1 1 1 1   1 1 1 1

Reading left to right, the decimal weighting is 128: 64: 32: 16:    8: 4: 2: 1:
The right hand bit being the low order bit ..

You've lived a sheltered life ... you need to get out more

I have a few modest talents. Knowing what I'm doing isn't one of them.

Nelson - just to follow on from what BC wrote - the "trick" is that 10 binary is in fact 2 in our more human-oriented decimal system - so what the tagline says, in decimal, is that there are only 2 types of people ....

Similarly, there are only 3 types of people in the world - those who can count, and those who can't....  :palm:
Cheers!
