Winter in the UK
PTsideshow:
Glad to here things aren't as bad as the cable news talking heads had on this morning sounded like we were going to have to airlift shovels and people to operate them to dig you out. But it did surprise me when they did mention it. Usually it's only when some twit signer/actor/politician gets caught in a comprising act that they they mention anything about the UK. :bugeye:
bogstandard:
I think the reason they have shown what has happened in the UK on US news, is because we normally have fairly mild of everything, split into 48 weeks rain, with 4 weeks sunshine for summer (most times sometimes less). So when something extraordinary happens, it is worldwide news. :bugeye:
Isn't it nice to be classed as not worth talking about unless something drastic happens. ::)

Scott,
When I was in the gulf (many years ago), the temp dropped to about 70 to 75 degrees in the winter.
When we went to the outdoor cinema, we used to wear thick pullovers and wrap a blanket around ourselves.
The normal summer temp was around 110 to 120 in the shade. It is just a matter of temp differential.
40 degree drop is a lot.

As they said in TV journalism 101, all those many years ago! "if it bleeds it leads, and good news is no news." But the best one was " when a reporter from a local station said in the class "Never let the truth, get in the way of the story!"
6"F this morning 6:21am est 1" inch of new snow, and its going to warm up to the high 40'sF this weekend and rain. winter is so much fun
