Future knife tools will also need canting to the left, as their cutting edge is gradually sharpened away.......

just a heads up regarding those tool posts ( yes I do use the same style ) is that all of the holders that you buy shall we say cheaply ( the proper ones are £40 each ) from rotagrip post is £150
My point is that they are not all made to the same hymn book I have just replaced my tool post due to the old one failing ( cracks in the wedges ) I have had to scrap a good few of the pattern ones as they would not pull up with the worst having a 0.75 mm gap no wonder the old post had trouble
so please when you buy some more it worth checking
BTW if you have a tilt head mill they are very easy to make the main slot is cut with a myford tee slot cutter and the Vee's are 48 mm to the points , bung a 12mm ( you do need that size to cut both the Vee faces at one setting ) tilt the mill head to 45 deg and mill away they should be 7.5 mm deep but do check you post 25 mm square stock is OK 58 mm long

Thanks for that Stuart!
I had a conversation the other day, with the "quality" supplier, to the effect I had bought from "Ratner's".......
For the type of work I do, this quality is quite adequate......
And, frankly, for the years I have left, it's not worth investing the price of a new lathe, in just a toolpost and 6 holders! :loco:
I have the post and four holder set, and another pair of holders from a different supplier. They all fit together nicely. So far.... :D
But, I will keep a wary eye open for any future problems........

yes David
please be aware its very obvious when they don't fit you can see it , otherwise they come loose under the cutting pressure , as I said its mainly the Vee's but the flat back can be too thick
glad yours are OK
Stuart
