Thanks for the warm welcome guys,
I started off in this hobby by buying a beam engine in a junk shop which I sold on and made a small profit, then it escalated from there, bit's of wheeling and dealing over the years I ended up with a couple of part finished models and a workshop. This was all before I went to University so as you can imagine, I was a bit of a geek!
I was into traction engines originally (I still like them, just don't think they are realistic as a project to me!) I am a member of a club that is very loco biased but now I set my sights a bit lower and am really interested by small steam, hot air and i.c. engines.
Next projects on my list are a flame gulper, i.c. engine and possibly a beam engine. I also have as I said a 3 1/2" Mable which I didn't build and is in need of restoration / finishing off and a 4 1/2" Wallis & Stevens Simplicity Roller in about the same situation. So it's already been confirmed by Stew that I have

Since I rejuvinated myself in this hobby a couple of years ago (I just realised I have a job now and can actually afford some better machines!) I have only made 2 oscillators and a hot air engine, but am quite proud of them as my workmanship has improved with each one and they are my own designs. I found out last night that somebody else has successfully made my simple oscillating engine which was a proud moment! The problem being with a wife and 2 young children I don't get that much time to myself and sometimes a cold garage isn't that appealing!
Anyway, I'm rambling now and am aware that

so I will stop! The next topics I post will show some of my small achievements thus far!
Stew, will look forward to seeing you soon!
Nick
