New guy saying hi
« on: February 16, 2012, 12:09:10 PM »
Hi everybody, came across this site today whilst looking for info on carbide inserts,  what a great forum.  I've been retired now for nearly 5 years after working for British Telecom for 39 years and 301 days, the 301 days were a long time.  My main interests are model engineering and aeromodelling although I do get distracted helping a friend of mine who has a narrow boat and likes repairing clocks.  You're welcome to see what I've been upto  by visiting my web site
http://www.modeleng.co.uk/  And may I wish everyone a belated very happy and prosperous new year.

Lee

Hi Saw thanks for the welcome.  I like your write up on Little Kathy, ( my wifes called Kathy) re metric/imperial I find the easiest is just work to whatever its in.  Recently changed my model engine bearings front ball race imperial, rear one metric and the crankshaft has a UNF thread you just would'nt belive it.

Hi Eric, not finished the 1.25 I started out with a bit of dubious ali mainly to get into my head the modos operandi (what the hell to do and how to do it) now following on from that I have a source of what may be better aluminium,  car pistons and cylinder heads which I've already turned into ingots.   The latest RCM&E mag has in it a plan of a 0.46cuin glow engine which may be my next project although a QCTP has got to be near the top of my list considering a Warco one for my 1232 is £153.     I've just been looking at the QCTP project by AdeV on here, very impressed.

Hi Deko I think I'm mad enough for the madhouse
Regards
Lee

No.  I remember it from way back. 1970-ish.

Thanks for the welcome everyone,  Eric thanks for the QCTP link and yes RCM&E is the Radio Control Models & Electronics magazine which is mainly aeromodelling it is also sold in the united states under a different name.   My casting is rather basic and at the moment the furnace is gas powered soon to be converted to old cooking oil (just been given 15 gallons) got to use it for something.

Regards

Lee
