Hi Chuck,
There is very little wrong with your machine, I like it. Actually, I wrote to one of our regular posters with published details of both the 'Nixon' in Model Engineer and the Brooks which was published in Model Engineers Workshop. One became the Kennet and the the Worden whilst the Brooks is a modification of the Clarkson which was miniatured as the Stent from Blackgates.
Actually, fairly recent Model Engineers Workshops have shown very fancy 'improvements' including a radius attachment on the lines of the very expensive Clarkson one.
Again, Miner and I were writing about the four facet drill grinding and me about grinding the ends of end mills and slot drills.
You mentioned the need to be able to raise the tool holder and this is what the Stent has. OK, it is a casting in the Blackgates version but I have one which was fabricated. In fact, the whole thing is fabricated- not by me- but came from a deceased estate.
So, If you would like me to send a few bits and pieces on the various tools mentioned, write giving your e-mail add to tramuntana(at)btinternet.com
Meantime, nice!
Norman
