Nice one...exactly what happened with me. Now try and grind the old one to the same profile, width, sharpness and clearence and there is no reason why the one on the right in the photo won`t do the same! Glad you have something you can part with!

Hi krv.
I believe the tool came from RDG, not sure..... It's the one, 5th pic down, here...    http://madmodder.net/index.php?topic=2464.0

After the "snatch", I bent it straight again, and removed the positive top rake.

It cut very well then. Until I bought a better tool.

I have got one of the RDG tools too.

Took me a little while to figure that the blade needed grinding the other way. The clamp bolts crushed the holder onto the blade because I was using it upside down and clamping on the blade side of the holder

Like a twit, I used it as per the photo in the catalogue

I wasn't going to tell anybody...

Sorry for wakening up this old thread, no need for making another one i guess..

U say it needs a constant speed for parting and no hesitation.. Could one use the crossfeed for doing just that constant speed and torque.. i have been handcraking and my parting carbides more or less explode on me at some point. :|

Good lord.. i wouldnt imagine one could part off that big of a pieces.. i always but stuff in the band saw and have an hour of "turn, swear, restart, turn a bit more, swear alot more".. well and on it goes..

I have been starting to abandoned my carbide insert tools as well lately..  Im just getting tired of swapping tips all the time.. So now well it seems i need to buy some 3/4" wide parting blades. =)
