Cap bolt question
<< < (2/3) > >>
AdeV:
Excellent, thanks chaps. I'll make the holes 16mm for now & either enlarge them or turn down the bolts if they won't fit.

Look out for some sump progress tonight  :)
buffalow bill:

Well, looking out for flying sumps, nothing here yet Ade. Still its only 6.45, time yet.

G-Wizard says 17.5x10 countersink.  Head diameter is 16.
John Rudd:
So is this bolt a countersunk head or is it a standard cap head that requires a counterbore ?

Gone to get me kevlar armour....
AdeV:
Um, I suspect you're right John, I need a counterbore to hold the cap-head of the bolt...

Damn these pesky machining terms. Look, I need a hole, that's big enough for the head to go into, but not all the way through.... the upright section is drilled 10mm clearance, the sump itself is drilled 8.5mm tapping (& then tapped m10) to take the cap-head bolt, that.... you get the picture...

Anyway, a new sump post will be coming right up... just got to fettle the pictures & write the text.
