Found this in a woodworking mailing.  Thought it might be useful on a mill.

Ever wonder how they got that light to light up without plugging it in. FX perhaps -  ::)

You might look at this project if you would like to make your own ring light. The larger ones can block your view of the workpiece under certain conditions.

Thanks for the link. I'm still undecided about a LED or just use a seperate standard machine lamp.

I made one using "Angel eyes" ring light designed to make a glowing ring of light around car headlamps.

Search Angel Eyes on Ebay and you will come across several. I paid $16 for (2) pairs of lights in 60mm and 80mm. not pictured but I just bent a piece of lexan into an L shape and clipped where the pointless chip gaurd on my mini mill used to go.
