Tools?  No.  But, plenty of pens out of both.  Rosewood was what I used to make my very first pen.

Either one would do well for chisel handles or somthing else in that vein.

What about Argentine lignum or Vera wood?

Mallet. Another "on works" when I'll figure what would be of corect shape and way of joining one square block to another type of wood handle.

I made one with a tapered mortice and tenon. The handle fitting through the headblock from the outside or top face.
