hello from Norway!
« on: May 18, 2011, 12:51:58 PM »
Having lurked here a bit i can already say  :mmr:

Having recently had a rather bad accident involving woodworkin machinery, my right hand was beeing rather useless. Not to be defeated i decided to get my small Sieg C3 lathe up and running until i could do some woodwork again. Seems i've managed to catch a bad case of  :proj: already, as i have now built a (crude!) tailstock camlock mod and ordered a LOT of stuff to enable me to use the lathe more and get the most out of it. Beeing cramped for space i don't have a mill yet, but i can do rough milling on the lathe, so i wont let that stop me  :zap:

Seems to be my kind of place this

Hi there Henning!

Welcome to the collective :borg:

What are your interests? Do you plan on building anything?

Henning,

Don't let having a disability put you off, there are a lot of lads on here that are a lot worse than yourself, and they have carved themselves a niche to fit into, turning out superb work in their own rights.

It is just a matter of adapting your machinery so that you can operate it safely and most probably a little more slowly, but once you have cracked it, there are no limits to what you can achieve.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!  :nrocks:

Beeing (relatively ::)) young i grow back nicely, so i will probably gain almost full use of my hand again. Index finger will probably give me some troubles, but all my fingers are there so i am very (VERY) lucky. So no big deal in the end.

Finished my tailstock camlock mod yesterday, a little fine tuning and it's on to the various adjustments necessary after i've had everything in pieces!

Here's a couple of pic's of my tailstok camlock:

Lathe is a Sieg C3 whcih came with DRO standard. Paintjob is "courtesy" of Norwegian importer. I recently sold a C2 from same importer but older model and that had angular roller bearings, so today i will investigate what's inside here and if i need to change bearings in the headstock.

 Thanks again for the welcome!

Warm wellcome

I'm really a greenhorn here, but I allready feel home here: I started something (taper turning) and then I noticed I need more tools (like steady rest) that will require me to make T-nuts for the rotary table and learn how to mill inverted V and some other things I even don't have a name.

Get your daily  :dremel: here!

Thanks Pekka!
Seems to be every nordic country represented here

As to interests, my main interest is having a lathe and mill for the odd jobs that pop up, but i will probably try and build an engine soon.
Then we'll see...

Hi Henning, looking good. From where did you by the cast to your'e tailstock camlock ? :dremel:

Didn't buy anything. Used pieces i had laying around, drilled a hole in the original tailstock and just cobled the bits and pieces togheter.
I used this page as main inspiration: http://gadgetbuilder.com/CamLock.html and it's one of the various very good pages on the Sieg lathes out there.
