stuart turner 10v help
« on: April 30, 2011, 03:59:30 PM »
hi all this is my first post here
i recently aquired a stuart 10v kit and need the book on how to build this or drawings
any and all help would be appreciated
this kit is about 60% machined
there are many questions to be asked but i cant logically ask these till i have plans or books
i ordered a plans set from stuart dont have an idea when it will arrive as i live in the us and the plans are coming from the uk
i see a book was published regarding this model called " building  a vertical steam engine from castings " by andrew smith, revised by pengwern

does anyone have a copy of this book or where one could source this thanks

Hi Earnie

Welcome to the Forum

UK source herewith:

http://www.camdenmin.co.uk/construction-manuals/building-a-vertical-steam-engine-p-2094.html

Also apparently on Amazon US for some horrendous prices 'used'

IF it's the same book ??

I have a few modest talents. Knowing what I'm doing isn't one of them.

Hi Earnie, welcome to the pack   I'm glad you got some drawings, and hope to see some metal chips soon, and see you on your way to a fine engine that runs.  It's always great to see new names and new projects on the site, the more the merrier.  Good luck with that Stuart,   Cheers, Jack

thanks gents, this thing does require some work, however im ok with it,
since i dont have a lathe= :( i have turned over the centering and drilling of the flywheel, the manufacturing of the eccentric bushing, and mannufacturing of the piston to a freind at work
the rest of this i can handle here at home :)
thanks for the help here

It's good that you have a friend to help you, but it is a heavy way to build a engine on
