It a wobbler ( sprung loaded center ) held by the TS  and the dial gauge is used to check the run out )

Basically its a centre finding device to set thing running true

Hi Chris ,,,,,,,,,,,, i mainly just use the HZ for profile cutters , gear cutting and deep slots   :dremel: :)
