Fraud in the name off the BBC

Just received this email, I have sent it to the BBC home office. I'm sure that the BBC isn't picking random Email address in the USA and giving trips away plus a cash bonus.  :ddb: So It must be a SCAM ALERT!   :borg:

We get the same thing here in Blighty!

A regular one is some attorney in the States wants to give you a fantastic sum if you will contact them with your bank details...yeah right! :lol:

It seems that a lot of them originate in Africa...

Ah...the wonders of instant global communication  :hammer:

My father at 83 got stung by some offshore investment group...not enough to maim but enough to hurt, silly old bugger!

I have told him so many times to ignore and delete the emails and refuse to answer the phone spams. He talks to them so they all have his name and number and prey on the daft old sod because he thinks they must be legitimate if they know his name!

We have, here in the UK, what is called the Preferred Telephone List, as well as one for faxes and one for post. You sign up for free.
If these people contact you out of the blue then you can report them and they will be fined. I got fed up with a certain credit card company forever sending me crap. Reported them the first time and they told the outfit that I was a customer. The second time I reported them is when I heard that they had said I was a customer; it cost them a lot of money I believe. Never heard from them again.

I would recommend everyone signing up to it!

The TPS (and MPS) are certainly great things - but be aware they only affect UK based companies; so you can still get those irritating recorded messages from abroad...

We have the same thing in the US, and they work around it all the time. This was the first time that they were taking the BBC name in vein. Gee 300,000 Dollars USD spending money in addition to the tickets! Man inflation must be steep over there!  :lol:
They still us the robo auto computer dialer's, for the small time rip off companies doing duct cleaning, home repairs etc.

If you had responded, I'm sure it wouldn't have been long before the "BBC" asked for bank details (just to be sure the money didn't get misplaced) and some form of ID (just to be sure they were dealing with the right person).

Last week, my delight at learning of huge winnings in a Spanish lottery was tempered by the realisation that I've never bought a lottery ticket outside the UK, and that my last visit to Spain was seven years ago...

I think your missing out on all the fun. Heck I have more money than I  can ever hope to spend. Pretty young girls to help me spend it and give me more. Not really since it is an email address, the address you posted is yahoo email home office!
Alot of members use ymail, Gmail or other throw away email addresses. that don't match the ISP's details.

The dead give away is it is an unsolicited email, involving a contest you didn't enter. Along with the fact that the BBC doesn't give away $300,00USD to random US email addy's

Meant that the addy of the sender did not match the reply-to addy, not that big a thing. Get these type of "Deals" all the time. I just like to know which address to use to get them signed up for  "Free" Viagra
