fixit:
sorry but can't help you with your 'bit. But just to clear up bsp It's called " 1/4 British standard pipe " because it originaly was a thread for a 1/4 internal bore pipe and same for 3/8 bsp ect, BSPT just means 'taper thread which the USA called 'Dryseal' which is used a lot in hydraulics. I'd have a stab at an M32 thread with a fine pitch, 1.5 ( coz there aint an M32 in coarse..) but on checking the pitch I'd say its between 18-20 tpi and as for the angle...Well my metric thread gauges dont seem to fit too well...Thing is, the item was made in the Far East, so I'd have guessed it would have been metric.. Any ideas guys? --- End quote --- 1.2500-20UN is a fairly common obscure thread that turns up. It is the thread used on the barrel retention B-nut on M16/AR15 type firearms and is commonly tooled in China these days. 1.2500-18UNEF is somewhat less common. A 1.25mm pitch would "almost" fit a 20 TPI thread. A 31.6mm (1.244 inch) major diameter is well within the tolerances for a 1.2500 thread. ??? |
Ned Ludd:
Hi John, Would it be possible to furnish more details of your compressor, make and model, and some pictures of the part and the body into which it fits? Ned |
jim:
i might have one in the shed, i'll have a look in the morning (got to go to work now!) |
John Rudd:
Ned, if you have a look at the ebay link I posted, the main body of the regulator is the same as the one in the picture.. the bonnet of the reg is metal not plastic, the red knob you see would normally be the adjusted to trim the outlet pressure but the thread that it screws into has worn away hence the need to make a new one... The compressor is a no name brand easily obtainable via Ebay..... Many parts would need to be replaced if I were to obtain a replacement reg, so fabbing a part is an option preferred atm... Jim, an offer of help would be much appreciated.. |
