Something to keep an eye on
« on: December 14, 2010, 04:24:11 AM »
Hi Guys,

This is a great tread and i have been lurking a long time and absorbed tons of info..
Wanted to pass my experience on with my 4x6 bandsaw.
When sawing in upright position with the table extension my saw short circuited.
What happened was that swarf from the aluminium i cut transported with the saw blade and deposited on top of the microswitch for the saw cover. It piled up on the contacts and eventually made contact with the housing. Earth fault as result and big spark and breaker trip.
Not a big deal but i have removed the switch now to prevent this happening in the future. I always have a habit to unplug my gear before i open things up anyway. But if this will save someone a scary moment i'm happy with it.

Regards, Danny

Science is fun.

We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.
