During my apprenticeship we were shown a training film, and told by our lecturer,this is NOT how to check for burrs....the film showed a decent sized lathe, turning fairly slowly....about 60rpm I suppose..the part was about 12" diameter, with a 10" bore. The point of the film was titled as "Checking for Burrs", and it showed the operator checking WHILST THE LATHE WAS RUNNING, WITH HIS FINGERS. You can tell the impression it made on me even 45 years later!!
