Hi All
I know i am getting on in years but i am not that old . i was in my backyard doing a little job when i heard an unusual aircraft engine sound looked up and saw a Fokker triplane of WW1 vintage heading north over Gainsborough at 4.58pm yesterday teatime was i dreaming or will someone please tell me if there is one of those aircraft still airworthy the Fokker was followed 20 minutes later by a bit younger but still vintage aircraft in the form of a Piper Cub of WW2 vintage .
Cheers Paul
Hi Paul
Strangely, I was nattering to a model-aircraft mate about three weeks ago on the subject, he had a big model one.
AFAIK no original survived, but there have been many replicas built. Some for the Blue Max film, some for fun.
Generally don't have the original rotary engine though.
He seemed to think there is/was a company in Germany making replicas.
Don't the geezers in Duxford do that sort of thing, ie restore old aircraft to the point where about 95% is no longer original.
Anyway, model aircraft and me don't get on...
