X1 Mill stand help please
« on: June 29, 2010, 08:30:34 PM »
I am re organising my shop,I have an X1 mill that will not be used a lot , it is converted to CNC but can be used manually what I want to be able to do is move it about if possable, I have found this cabnet that will hold the weight and I can put the PC in the bottom but what i want to know if it will effect the milling with it being mobile the floor is very flat ,Vinyl tiled, and the unit has brakes so will it be a problem.

this is the unit

My X2 is mounted on the top of a roll around toolbox, and I think it does vibrate a little more than it did when it was mounted on a solid (screwed to the wall) bench.

I don't think it affects the finish of the cuts though.  With a small machine you are taking pretty small cuts anyway, if I get chatter, I take a smaller cut.  I like the convenience of being able to get behind the machine, or move it around.
