Hi from Birmingham UK
« on: June 20, 2010, 06:04:20 AM »
Hi all just joined the forum today my name is John and I’m 58 years old I live in Birmingham UK been working in engineering since I left school and now I’m retired. I have built up a small machine shop at home and try to spend as much time in it as I can. I build Morse keys as a hobby out of brass (just love working with brass) but interested in all forms of engineering. Spent about an hour looking around your forum and from what I seen so far I think it’s a great, full of information on all forms of engineering fun.

Hi John and welcome to MadModder. I am glad to see that you have already had a bit of a look around and like what you saw. There is a lot more there hidden away in the older posts that don't seem to pop out at you. There is many hours of reading and tips available on many subjects if you are ever looking for some reading material. When you get a chance it would be nice to see some pictures of your shop and some of your projects.  :D :D

Cheers

John, you have an excellent website and I very much like your morse keys. I could have done with seeing this before I began my morse key build project a few weeks ago. The key I have started is a straight paddle, similar to a few of yours as it was also based on the Kent Straight Key but it has been put on hold for a while since I have a few other projects to finish.  You have inspired me to come back to it and finish it off, there are only a few hours work left in it now...

Also, super video`s on youtube of the process! Nice one

Thanks all for the warm welcome, and thank Craynerd for what you said about my website and I’ll try to get some pictures up when I work out how to do it.

John

I have had a chance to visit your website and view some of the keys that you have made. They certainly are beautiful and show the mark of a true craftsman. Excellent job  :ddb: :ddb: :ddb:
