You swapping it ?

I do like the look of the  bed casting on the hot air engine

Regards Rob

Edit : whats that screw on top for

Quite nice and smooth, David.  Job well done.

I have a question or two, (about the Huxtable) if you don't mind?
The hex fitting in the end of the cylinder, is that for packing?
And, it may seem obvious to someone who's seen it up close, but which is the power piston rod?  The one on the side looks
to have a smaller stroke, and the one in the center a longer one.  A guess makes me think the center rod is for the displacer,
but I'm not seeing it clearly in my head.
Are the power piston and cylinder both of brass?

Lots of questions, I know.  I've never seen on of these up close.  It's a lovely runner.

Thanks!

Dean

Rob,

The 1940`s Cyldon steam engine was very badly designed..... The piston has to support itself, and the conrod etc.

It soon becomes very badly worn...... ::)

So, I`ve reamed the cylinder deeper to allow a longer, re sleeved piston......

Unfortunately, the crankshaft is a pressed together, flimsy wire assembly.

Don`t like it. Don`t want it. But, Les in Bournemouth collects Cyldons....... It`s going south, soon.....  :D

Rob, Dean,

I`ll strip the Huxtable & take some pics, for a write up in the next few days.

You`ll both understand better then.....
