Hi all

Im ant... and ive been drawing stuff on the computer for years, then recently while learning 3D I though "im fed up with having nothing solid to show for my efforts", so ive bought a bunch of engineering equipment and im in the process of making high tech mugs.  Well we do love our tea breaks in the UK :)

Current Sub-Project
Im turning some aluminum moulds and i need to polish their surface to a mirror finish, but one of my moulds is a tube the size of a coffee mug and the inside needs polishing to remove tool marks.  So im going to build a machine which will work the same way as a motorcycle rear wheel, but the rear wheel will be a 3" polishing mop that can go inside the tube.
Question - Where can i buy small chains & cogs from to transfer power to my wheel?

Hi Ant, and welcome to the asylum  :borg:

You might take a look at Technobots http://www.technobots.co.uk/index.html in their "Mechanical" section. They sell stuff for the "Robot Wars" fraternity so, being a retailer rather than an industrial supplier, they don't mind small orders.

They also do pulleys and belts, which could be an alternative way to drive a polishing head.

Great!  thats exactly what i needed.
Id come across a robotics suppliers some time ago, but this time I just couldnt get my search to turn up a result.

I like the idea of pulleys because I can make the pulleys myself.

Welcome to MadModders Ant. I'm sorry I can't help you with the small chains and cogs but I am sure that some of the chaps closer to you will have an idea where you can find that sort of kit. It will be interesting to see those mugs as they all come together. Nice looking bike too.  :) :)
