Well that's a very well written explaination

Thank you for taking the time to post that.

Yeah, me too! WOW  :jaw:

Didn't know one could make a hobby out of flashlights.

Like Don said, I learned more about flashlights in this post than I knew was available. Excellent post. Very nice pictures too.

Thank you guys.  This flashlight "hobby" (madness?) covers a lot of disciplines, and no-one can be a true expert on everything - and I am no exception as I just know a little bit about various topics.  Given the vast range of mods available for lights, I meant this first post to be a good place to start, so that folks can come back with questions and/or areas you would like me to expand more.  If I don't know enough about a topic(s) I will forward you guys to the respective areas/experts at the CPF's, or ask them to come and post here to expand/clarify as necessary.

Excellent post William I learned a lot and very interesting.

I have a question. How small could a flash light  be with the brightest beam emitting the longest range with the longest battery life giving the user most visual sight.

Many thanks              Anthony.

Anthony,

A light can't be all of these at the same time - because most of these are contradictory:
- smallest
- brightest
- longest range
- longest battery life
- most visual sight

This is precisely what makes the flashlight hobby so interesting: you have to make priorities and decide on what is important, to then consider your options, either of-the-shelf, or custom, or semi-custom (modify existing light).

Now, for a "reasonable" small light, I would still need to know one more thing before making a couple of recommendations: what is your budget?  $20-30 for something simple/cheap from Asia, or $600-700 for a totally wicked Titanium custom light, or something in between perhaps?  :poke:
