« on: November 15, 2009, 10:36:44 AM »
picking up a Sieg C3 in the morning :D

I've got some repetitve lathe work to do, getting bored of have to constantly reset my C4, so figured i'd get one of the C3's again (had one before i got its big brother).

it'll be interesting which one becomes the favorite!!!
if i'd thought it through, i'd have never tried it

That's one nice thing about C3s. You can pick them up - literally - and pop them in the car, or away in a cupboard. Or, with a bit of effort, turn them over and shake the swarf off, like I do with my little Perris  :)

I've cut the end off it twice, but it's still too short

Thats the advantage in having the workshop across town from where I live.  If the missus sees any manuals or bits and pieces of gear on the table at home I just say I have had it for ages.  She never visits the shop so she wouldnt have a clue what I recently bought. :)
From an early age my father taught me to wear welding gloves . "Its not to protect your hands son, its to put out the fire when u set yourself alight".

Forget about the price of gold and oil, its the price of beer that matters.

Talking about tools/machines and misuses, I got a good one. Mine sneakily buys them for me as presents for Christmas, birthdays, father’s day etc. :) She has done very well in picking the right ones out over the past 24 years. When we go to markets etc, she expects me to buy tools and hardware.

I'm lucky,

My missus knows how much I enjoy my workshop and actually encourages me to get stuff.

Like my new lathe coming shortly ....  :)

She catches me looking on the net, takes a look, asks what I'm looking at and if I say something like "that's nice" she replies with "buy it then ....  :ddb:

It's me I have to watch out for not her !!

Same here Darren, no arguments at all.

In fact she used to clean out my shop for me.

I suppose as you get older, they are not worried about what you get up to when you are seperated for a few hours, and it is also a way for them to watch what they want on the box.

Hate to admit this guys but recently I've not been more tempted to sit there with unhealthy snacks and Cheryl Cole on a saturday night than I have going in the cold messy workshop!
