One broken Ikea lamp ($7): One Ali bar end ($free!): A little turning and boring (boring bar chattered like mad) Plus some quality time on the mill with a 24-space indexer and 3/16" ball end mill. Result: MadMod Bike Light: :zap: 25 watts of light for an hour using a small 12v SLA battery (I've got loads from an old server UPS). Works better than the $150 commercial model it's replacing. The same concept applied to the end of some flexible conduit would make a nice machine light. |
