Thanks chaps! the really interesting thing about this lathe is that on the changwheel cover is a long list of metric pitches it will cut,from .5mm right up to 10mm! so it looks like it was built to cut metric threads, if you have the changewheel set! It is in remarkably pristine condition having been built as war work by P&C Garnett, who made textile machinery and sharpening machines, and after the war, they were reconditioned, mine by IL Berridge of Leicester, who made industrial knitting machines, and sold into industry. I can hardly believe that this machine has done any work to speak of since. I bought it from Andrews motorcycle shop in Scarborough.
