My Covmac Lathe, running at last!
hermetic:
Hi Chaps, here is a short video of my Covmac running at last!! I have just passed a milestone! After several years of walking sadly past my Covmac lathe, stored away in a cramped building, which is now becoming my blacksmiths shop, I have finally got it out, cleaned, and running. Covmac were made by Coventry Machine Tool Works Ltd, although it seems that most of the ones which are still around in the UK were made either by D&J Tullis, of Kilbowie Ironworks, Lanarkshire, Scotland, Who made laundry machinery or, like mine, By P&C Garnett of Cleckheaton in West Yorkshire, who were makers of textile machinery. Both firms were manufacturing these machines as war work during WW2. After the war, many of these machines were reconditioned, and sold into industry, mine by I&L Berridge Ltd in Leicester, who were industrial knitting machine manufacturers There is a short video of it here, So, anyone else have one?
