Andrew are you sure SWMBO had not ,as part of a diabolic plan, carefully relocated it temporarily? "workbench never looked so clean" - always a bad move to let 'em see that. Gives them as sorts of ideas about tidiness being next top godliness ( see the irish dictionary for relevant entries ). Glad it turned up eventually. As a first aid aside - always useful to have some 'steri-strips"in the workshop first aid kit . Pressure stops the bleeding and the steri strip binds the skin flap down. |

Ian, 25 mm masking tape works pretty well as a temporary blood stop  Managed to gash a knuckle with a Stanley knife this morning - got a first aid kit in the workshop, but no way can you get those silly modern sealed elastoplasts open with blood all over the place :bang: A turn of masking tape round the affected digit stemmed the flow, and when clotting started a more conventional fix could be applied  |

I just hold a cigaette paper on it the bleeding stops and dries and forms a second skin that washes away later |

Well I don't smoke, but I keep cigarette papers in the workshop for 'touching off' on the surface grinder. A small piece is moistened with saliva and stuck on the work. Then bring the wheel down gently until the paper is wiped off and you know exactly how close you are to the work. Trouble is the wife steals them to clean the reeds of her Oboe mouthpiece  |
