Wood burning stove flue through corrigated fibre roof

--- Quote from: Arbalist on October 20, 2015, 06:31:33 AM ---Most of the modern flues I've seen appear to be of double skin construction as they're quite large. Do these get very hot and is it safe to say run it through a loft space or do you need additional protection to prevent a fire hazard? Just wondering if I could put a wood burner in my bungalow without too much faff. A good mate says it's too much bother but he often talks warlocks! :D

Arbi.....( can I call you that?.... :) )
In terms if installing a wood burner in your house it is fraught with the dreaded red tape.....
I draw my learned colleague to the following....,
www.stovefittersmanual.co.uk
That should give you a good insight on how to do it......
Good luck..... :dremel: and goes without saying we need pictures......

Aw...here in northern chimes EU-regulation has been good: it pretty much gives max-temperature of what stove will produce and then you choose chimney to mach. Then we get the kit from hardware store and follow mfg instructions. There are some regulations, but they are a pretty good on private dwellings. Only problem arises when there is too much insulation on ceiling and there flue temperature exceeds the spek. Or someone tries 24 hour sauna competition.
Here local Fire Inspector is pretty much allways a helpful chap and will give advice over the phone and once I asked him to visit, just to check if I can install sauna stove and in few minutes of checks he said "ok" and that's it. There were some regulation I was not even aware of, but everything turned out fine.
