What grease for all metal oldhamn coupling
« on: March 05, 2015, 11:31:01 AM »
There is a miniscule oldhamn coupling between electric motor 1500 or 3000 rpm and 0,55 or 0,75 kW. The coupling part is really small 14/10 mm diameter and looks like hardened steel.

What kind of grease goes for it?

What ever spec it needs to be a very 'clingy' grease to not be flung out at that speed. I've recently bought a tube of specially formulated 'chuck grease' that probably has the right characteristics - basically a white lithium grease but made to be very tenacious. Downside is it's a very silly price - that standard grease cartridge was £27.70 plus carriage and VAT

Jeah, I know what you mean. I do have some very adhessive grease that does not separate, but NLGI is only 1, it's not very viscous. I think that pressures are very large, but movement is very small even close to fretting/scuffing.

Effective dia is only 13-14 mm and "key" is 4,52 x 8,00 mm and 7,1 x 5,12 mm.

Electric motor shaft is D14 mm and key 5x5 mm.

If we could think of a way of safely getting it to you, you'd be welcome to a little squeeze of it.

Would a chain lube work better?
