Swarfing:
Hi Eugenio welcome

Have you tried asking for old dented/ cracked Alloy wheels on Facebook?

I noticed you have FREECYCLE set up for your area but only 3 members and no posts. That is a real shame because it is a great source for broken aluminium items here in the UK.

salvarane:
I do not have a facebook account.

thank you very much, I do not know freecycle network, now I want familiarize with the goups in the site.

I have some scrap on a corner in the garage, sometimes friends bring a few pieces for molding metal.

But I'm interested in spreading the scientific culture, and for that, I opened this channel on youtube, good vision at all:

Yes but better to avoid getting it there in the first place. I used to use purple degassing tablets until I found that bubbling dry argon through worked better. I had a length of 15 mm stainless steel pipe, squashed flat at the far end, with 1 mm holes drilled in. When I took the melt from the furnace I bubbled argon through for 15 seconds and the scrubbing effect got rid of the hydrogen.

Thanks awemawson, I contacted a company here in Italy that sells products for foundry, have as a product for degassing tablets  self-sinking and ecological, I think of doing some tests.

I noticed that the bad ventilation creates cavities in the surfaces of the casts, but I think with the experience will improve everything.

Eugenio.

Eugene:
Hi Eugenio, and welcome to the forum.

Thank you for posting the pictures of your foundry; I shall be setting up to cast aluminium in the Spring and I will copy some of your ideas. We Eugenios and Eugenes must support each other!

salvarane:
ok Eugene,  I look forward to starting work.

Eugenio
