New garage roof, widen my shop

That first picture is the only one I had on my real camera all the others are on my phone as soon as I can workout how to get them off I'll post them.

This has took a long time to get started as I got a real job after being self employed for years and they want you there every day :loco:

Then the brickies I talked to were a bit vague when they looked at the job so I thought, just do it yourself.

I got the wall up, booked some holiday to finish off the other wall and then went and broke my leg.

So I got the joiner to get the wall finished and build the roof structure, now we are about two weeks off tiling the roof.

Started in late July, delayed by planning app snag, any way slow progress as I've never laid a brick or a block before, a mate built this when we  were young(er)

The idea is to build a wall with piers returning at both ends they are attached to the wall with wall starter kits there are pillars every 6 courses along and a portal frame for the doorway.

The existing wall will stay up until the roof is finished, once it's all watertight I intend to drop the now internal wall leaving nibs of the old wall up as support

The roof is made up of 6" rafters 9" joists should get some storage space up there !

Are you in West Yorkshire by any chance? I like the shop, looks like it will be a usefull size when finished, you have done the right thing with the roof, I have a flat roof on mine, and it has been nothing but trouble since the 70's when it went on! I am on with a refurbish on my workshop, well rebuild would be more accurate, but I am coming to the end of the major work, thank the lord!

Built this 18 years ago, cheesed me off that I had to chop 2 foot off the width

and got talked out of a pitched roof

Why was the original build shorter, but this one is now larger, special planning permission?

Flat roofs leak, I don't know anyone that would voluntarily want one.
