UK Metal benders
« on: October 09, 2014, 02:35:21 PM »
I have to make about 20 brackets from 50x4mm steel with a few bends in each.
The only bender that seems to fit the bill is listed on the US Amazon site:
http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Bender-Bending-Metal-Square/dp/B0081TLV5A
Needless to say, they do not ship to the UK.
Does anyone have any idea where I may obtain such a tool or one with similar characteristics in the UK?
TIA
Pete

Its a good bit of kit, I have the floor mounted (Machine Mart) one bolted in the workshop.  When not used for bending it makes a good platform to operate the grinder from amongst other kit that gets bolted too it.  I have also used it as a Samson post to winch equipment up the drive and into the workshop.

Excellent MadModder tool...

Thanks John/Joules
The MachineMart one is worth a look-see, as it seems to have the capabilty...(and a recommendation  )
I already have one of the Universal ones like Chronos sell, but it does not have a large enough capacity (for my project)
Thanks again

I don't know about the uk (i am from the Netherlands), but if the mentioned bender is not what you need, I have this one, which seems identical to the one you first mentioned:

They do ship internationally, but its weight is 35 kg!

If you need translation, just ask.

Thanks for the info Peter.
I have just ordered, the one recommended above, last Friday, which should be delivered this coming week.
On the site you mention, there did not seem to be a 'Button for English'. On their contact page I could guess at most of the fields,
but I'm not sure if they have English Speakers who would understand anyway.
Do you think it's worth sending them a request for delivery charges?
Thanks again
Pete

In my experience, almost every Dutch person speaks excellent English - often better than many of our own natives...
Cheers!

Pete,
I have been there often (lots of cheap Chinese tools ;-) ), its just a few km from where I live. I am sure they will understand your message and be able to send you a reply you can understand. If needed I am more than happy to assist if needed.

A little update.
Ade was correct about the english-speaking Dutch.. Got a reply from the company this morning. Unfortunately their transporter does not transport to the UK.
