Had a day off work (so i spent it working in the shop ) :loco: :loco:
Made a start on the con rod , i was going to machine it from soild but decided on a fabricated job

How will the CI ring wear in the bronze cylinder ?

I have only used CI rings in CI cylinders , I do use 'O' rings in bronze or soft packing


Nice work BTW I am not criticising just asking as I am knocking up a triple expansion engine that uses a bronze block and bronze rings , I an thinking of using CI as i know it will work

I had a hell of a job trying to clamp things in to place and then drill and tap them

All the welds machined off everything debured and cleaned up
The dowel pins make for a nice job
Machined a big lump of bronze in to a cross gead guide

Made a start on the front colums (22 mill stainless round bar)
Drill and tap one end screw cut the other and set to length.
They looked ok but very plane

Very nice job going on here, I like to see an engine come together with each part dictating what comes next, and the ability to decide on the fly, how to do each little bit.  It makes for a very personal engine, and I have to say, you are going to need a real boiler for that job, when it is finished.   :beer:  Cheers, Mad Jack
