A Gismo ??? If it has a flywheel or spins and is made with small parts. I'll take one! If it makes noise, moves, or requires frequent oiling and dusting it's a better deal yet. It's especially right if its shiny and bright; but if it's dirty and dull it wont mater at all...

It sure is a good read.
I have all three Bedside Readers. In one of them this story is told. I'm surprised that it's out on the net.

That is a great story.
It is to my sorrow that I knew 2 men with that level of ability in their own fields when I was too young and ignorant to appreciate it; one a famous gunsmith and the other an engineer who invented various items and built and marketed his own Waveney Shaper
