Model firearms

Since in my country no kind of firearm is legal (except for 12 gauge shotguns), and considering my perverted love of all kinds of them (not as a way to maim or kill either humans or animals but as a beautyfull machine) I have turned all my affection to models.
Several models fire the 2mm pinfire cap.
I honestly envy you Americans for being free to buy arms.
A picture of one model follows (and please don't tell me that the old quarter is almost pure silver and I should not melt it down).

Hi Rob,

the blueing is an ordinary gun blue liquid (something 44 if memory serves me right, which I doubt).
Trouble is that with new airport regs I can't buy those tiny 2mm pinfire caps, if still available.
No plans but after buying some 200 books on firearms I have learned their innards by heart...

Sorry Dean cannot answer about manhours, since it is a 30 years old project. On the other hand, the equipment available at the time was an old fashioned Unimat used as lathe, mill, grinding wheel e.t.c. and considering the time needed to convert the lathe to a mill, tramm it, use it for a couple of holes maybe and re-assemble it as a lathe, would lead to a long time indeed.

PT, I have been there of course but thank you for the info anyway. Of cource, whe I see a Kucer (and not only) model I almost cry, but we have completely different orientations (and talents!!!).
I make shooting models only whereas any decent American model maker would rightfully object that one can plink or shoot a lifesize gun and leave the model alone. Well, in Greece everything is forbidden except for the 12 gauge shotgun. So making firing models is my way out...

Please note all models presented are dusty and dirty and not recently oiled. Also kindly forgive my loss of interest in finshing the task as soon as I know that the model works, so some triggers are unfinished e.t.c..

It doesn't seem to matter about using the Unimat, you still do fine work here.  I do like the full sized item, but am fascinated by miniatures.  Especially firing miniatures!

Hi Eric,

the Xythos (usual trade name of shown revolver in your vid) is a more complicated model and a double action one, whereas mine is a single action and a rather simple model.

Hi Eric,

your kind words are balsam to my heart...

My main aim (no pun intended) has never been a true scale model but a firing one rather, so yes, they are all firing.
However, since ammo manufacturers do not oblige by producing 2-4 mm cal. ammo, I have to make my own, but do not wish to elaborate on this subject.

Please forgive any possible mistakes but remember that English is not my native language.
